Limited Edition - Vintage Saree Fabric
Back in 2001, I traveled to India for my beautiful brilliant friend Raji's wedding. My then not yet boyfriend Peter (now husband) and I had a crazy Indian adventure on the way to the wedding and I found myself in Bangalore at a saree shop halfway there. Overcome with the immense color choices, I ended up with 13 sarees, one of which I wore to Raji's wedding. The rest I thought I'd make into clothes or bags or some kind of wonderful. Needless to say, they came home and found themselves packed away for years. Too precious to cut up.
Fast forward 23 years. While recalling the Indian travel tale to a dear client Monique and her husband Navin, I mentioned my secret stash of sarees and they said "why don't you use them for the shop?". I said I was scared to cut into them and Navin reminded me "you can always buy more sarees!". So there you have it. Thank you Monique & Navin for reminding me to seize the day (as I used to in my 20's!) and just make something. Hope you enjoy!
