Oakland-based visual artist Stephanie Dennis draws on ideas from nature and memory to inform her abstract paintings and drawings. Using a variety of materials, her work engages expressionistic mark-making, shape and line.
"The watercolor plaids are kind of visual double entendre. They are paintings of a classic textile, then printed on a textile. So, they are both a plaid and a painting of a plaid."
